Located at the gateway to the rolling Yorkshire Dales, Knaresborough is a picturesque market town set on the River Nidd and boasts centuries of history and heritage. Thousands of visitors and tourists flock here each year thanks to excellent road and rail links to Leeds, York and Harrogate, so it makes for the ideal place to host events.

This year, from 21st to 23rd August 2026, we’re pleased to announce that Knaresborough’s 12th-century castle will play host to our event.

Situated a stone’s throw away from the iconic viaduct, Knaresborough Castle is an ancient site with national importance and has been associated with English royalty, such as King John, who took possession of the castle in 1204. There has been a market established in the town by King Edward II since 1310, so the locals are well-accustomed to their town being a centre of trade and commerce, and the medieval street layout always makes for a memorable experience.

In July and August, visitor numbers are at their highest, and we intend to capitalise on this huge footfall with our shopping marquee hosting a wide range of exhibitor stands. As it’s a central location in the town and already one of the most visited attractions in Knaresborough, visitors are naturally drawn to the location and will jump at the opportunity to not only enjoy the pleasant historic surroundings but also the artisan products on sale.

The outdoor layout lends itself to a more relaxed experience and at this time of year when the sun is shining on this beautiful area of Yorkshire, you can be sure that this destination venue will encourage the maximum number of visitors looking for a pleasant day out, combining history, heritage and beautifully crafted, authentic products.

What we offer

When you choose to exhibit with Cottage Industry Events, there are lots of benefits you can enjoy that will boost your chances of making sales.

• We handle all advertising in advance, including social media and leaflet drops
• Location on the main castle green with a wooden floor.

Over this August weekend, there will already be an influx of visitors to the nearby FEVA Arts & Music Festival taking place in the town, with both guests and performers expected to pay a visit to the castle grounds too.

There’s never been a better time or place to showcase your products than at our Knaresborough Castle event, and we’ll do everything possible to make it a roaring success.
